About the Classic Flame
Electric Fireplaces:
Classic Flame Electric Fireplaces and inserts are clean and safe for the
environment. They produce none of the by-products that gas and wood burning
fireplaces produce, and are 100% energy efficient, turning electricity into
heat.
They all have LED light sources, which have longer life spans, use less energy,
and operate with or without heat for year round enjoyment. Classic Flame's
Electric Fireplaces are completely "Plug-n-Play," meaning that all you have to
do is plug the unit into any 120 volt outlet and it will work without any
hook-ups.
They can be placed in any room of the home, including bedrooms, and can be moved
from room to room with little effort. No special permits, no mess, no cleanup
and no running gas lines. Just plug it in and enjoy the comforts of an electric
fireplace by Classic Flame.
The fireplace cabinets are easy to assemble and the entire unit assembles in
minutes. The units heat up to a 400 sq ft room with 4600 BTUs of heat flowing
out of the fireplaces and inserts. Most of these fireplaces come with their own
remote, so you can control the flame and heat intensity as you need to. The
glass doors on the inserts and fireplaces stay cool to the touch.
The Builder's box Built-In Electric Fireplace units are the only Classic
Flame fireplaces designed to be installed professionally, being hardwired to any
120 volt or 240 volt wiring in your home.
Classic Flame Mantles are made from only the finest of wood veneers and hardwoods. They are designed to be fashionable as well as functional. Add the good looks of a Classic Flame fireplace and mantle set to your home today.
How Electric Fireplaces WorkAn electric fireplace creates a realistic flame effect with lights and a moving or reflective screen, and it has a built-in fan-forced heater. Because nothing burns, there are no fumes, no vent and no chimney. You can run the flame by itself all year long, or turn on the heater for supplemental warmth on cool days. Most plug-in models produce roughly 4,600 to 5,100 BTU, enough to warm a room of about 400 square feet. Types of Electric Fireplaces
What Does an Electric Fireplace Cost to Run?A typical heater uses about 1,500 watts (1.5 kilowatts) on high. To estimate the cost per hour, multiply 1.5 by your electric rate. For example, at 15 cents per kilowatt-hour the heater costs about 23 cents per hour on high. Running only the flame effect uses a small fraction of that. Your electric bill shows your actual rate. Safety and Installation TipsPlug the fireplace directly into a wall outlet rather than an extension cord, keep the heater outlet clear of furniture and curtains, and follow the clearances in the owner’s manual. Glass fronts stay cool to the touch, which makes electric fireplaces a good choice for homes with children and pets. Electric fireplaces can go in bedrooms, apartments and basements where gas is not practical. Prefer real flame? Compare our gas fireplaces. Electric or Gas: Which Is Right for You?Choose an electric fireplace if you want the simplest installation, the freedom to move the fireplace from room to room, or a flame you can enjoy without heat in warm weather. Choose a gas fireplace if you want stronger heat, a real flame and heat that keeps working in a power outage. Many homes use both: gas in the main living area and electric in a bedroom, office or basement. Our fireplace index compares every gas option we carry, from vent-free fireplaces to direct-vent models. Frequently Asked QuestionsDo electric fireplaces give off real heat?Yes. Most plug-in electric fireplaces have a fan-forced heater of about 1,500 watts, roughly 4,600 to 5,100 BTU, which is enough for supplemental heat in a medium-size room. Can I use the flame without the heat?Yes. The flame effect and the heater have separate controls, so you can enjoy the look of a fire all year without adding heat. Do I need an electrician to install an electric fireplace?Plug-in models only need a standard 120-volt outlet. Built-in units that are hardwired, including some 240-volt models, should be installed by a licensed electrician. |
