Choosing the Right Size and Control

Like the other Empire glazed burner sets, such as the weathered oak and charred oak sets, split oak log sets are offered in several nominal widths. Measure your firebox front width, back width, height and depth and compare them with the minimum firebox dimensions on the specification sheet. Manual control sets are simple and need no electricity. Millivolt control sets also run without household power and can be used with wall switches, thermostats and remote controls.

Vent-Free Safety and Sizing

Every Empire vent-free log set includes an oxygen depletion sensor (ODS) pilot that shuts off the gas if oxygen in the room drops too low. Vent-free logs are limited to 40,000 BTU per hour, and total input should not exceed 20 BTU per hour per cubic foot of room volume.
