1 What are Ultimate rock products made of?
A Structural Urethane outer skin with a Polyurethane foam backing for additional strength.
2 How strong are they?
Strong enough to handle normal everyday abuse. All products are tested for walkovers of up to 400 lbs.
3 What is the life span of Ultimate rocks and waterfalls?
Structural urethane used in this appliction will easily last 30 years or better.
4 Will they crack or freeze?
Ultimate rock is designed with the correct amount of flexibility and rigidity to handle all climates. Ultimate products carry a 10-year warranty considerably better than any other artificial rock process.
5 Why do they look so real?
We use real rock to mold our models. Our unique molding process will duplicate every nick, crack, or crevice on the real specimen. Our patent pending stain process gives the final product a three-dimensional, color variegated look.
6 How are they painted?
Ultimate products are unlike most other artificial rock processes in that they are stained, not painted. The stain is actually absorbed into the skin of the rock.
7 Will they fade?
Ultimate products are finished with a UV resistant stain. Although our rocks will weather like any product outdoors, the changes will be slight and should go unnoticed. Many colors will actually slightly darken with time. We have done extensive weather testing that has shown no change in an accelerated 10-year test. Ultimate makes recoloring kits available upon request.
8 Can they be punctured?
Yes, but not easily. If a sharp object penetrates, the product can be repaired easily with our available patch kit.
9 How much do they weigh?
Ultimate rock products vary by model, weighing anywhere from 10 to 100 pounds. Size for size, our products weigh half as much as the nearest artificial rock competitor.
10 Can they be used in water?
Yes, the urethanes are not biodegradable, will not deteriorate, and are safe for fish and plants.
11 Will they blow away?
When mulch, soil, or rock is put around the edge at least 1" deep, the wind will not get under the rock and "lift" it. Although we have never had a report of any of our products blowing away, we suggest in high wind areas mounting the rock slightly deeper (2") in soil.
